2nd Article part 1
3.18.2020
Matthew 1:18-25

"I believe that Jesus Christ true God, begotten of the Father from eternity and also true man born of the Virgin Marry is my Lord"

"Lord Jesus, bless Thy Word, that we may trust in Thee."

As we continue our journey of Lent under the theme - One Lord. One Faith. One Future.  We turn now to the Second person of the Godhead (Trinity) our Savior, Jesus Christ.

1. Truly God is with us in the flesh of Jesus, Mary's Son.

Joseph believed this Word of God. Not that it was simple. It's easy to speak those two words, "I believe."  It takes courage and faith to live them.  Joseph trusted in the Father's promise. This moved him to action. Faith is always busy and active.

A. In quiet obedience he took Mary to be his wife. In spite of the whispers. The rumors. The snickers. The suspicious glances.  This union would bring.

What is it that is required of you? It might not be easy. But difficult.  If so, Joseph can be a good example.

B. Joseph cared for Mary. In faith and love. And Jesus. Who was a part of this family.  Grew up. With a caring father. And a loving mother. Joseph was Jesus' earthly caretaker.  He was priest. Provider. Protector.

Transition: Conceived by the Holy Spirit. And born of the Virgin Mary. Jesus. The God/man. Grew up. Just like you! - To be - An example?  A guide? No. No. No!  He is your Savior.

2. This is love.

A. From cradle to cross. The love of God is manifest in this, that, "the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world."

1. We sing that great hymn at Christmas. At Mission Festivals. And yes, in Lent.
"God loves me dearly, grants me salvation, God loves me dearly loves even me..."

2. We love. Because He first loved us. Greater love has no man than this - that he lay down his life for his friends.

B. The Bible tells us that He (Jesus) "is the propitiation for our sin."- 1 John 4: 10
Which means, yes, the Father is satisfied. With Jesus' work and action.
Which means, your sins, o man, are covered.
        Which means, Jesus' got this!
        Which means, you are free.

A true and enduring faith will always confess, “I believe that Jesus Christ, true God, begotten of the Father from eternity and also true man, born of the Virgin Mary is my Lord

Lord, grant us such a faith as this.
