Saturday of Lent 5

SATURDAY, APRIL 09, 2022                                          Scripture Reading: Luke 22:1–13

Additional Scriptures: Leviticus 23:1–8; Psalm 31:9–16

Each morning crowds would gather in the temple to hear Jesus teach. They would stay throughout the day. Jesus would depart to the Mount of Olives for the night. But early each morning the crowds would gather at the temple again just to hear Jesus teach. A movement was starting. A kingdom not of this world was coming. Jesus had wisdom unlike any of the chief priests and scribes. And people were starting to follow. A movement was growing. People were flocking just to hear him and that meant that the chief priests and scribes were losing their power so they plotted against him. The movement continues as you listen to Jesus who has the words of life. May his words spring you into action to live for him who has redeemed you.

O Lord, in Your goodness You bestow abundant graces on Your elect: Look with favor, we entreat You, upon those who in these Lenten days are being prepared for You Holy Baptism, and grant them the help of Your protection; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen [2]
