Friday of Lent 4

FRIDAY, APRIL 01, 2022                                                  Scripture Reading: Philippians 2:25–3:1

Additional Scriptures: Psalm 126; Isaiah 43:8–15

Christians and Christian ministers are compared with soldiers Phlippians 1:2; 2 Timothy 2:3-4, because of the nature of the service in which they are engaged. The Christian life is a warfare; there are many foes to be overcome; the period which they are to serve is fixed by the Great Captain of salvation, and they will soon be permitted to enjoy the triumphs of victory. Paul regarded himself as enlisted to make war on all the spiritual enemies of the Redeemer, and he esteemed Epaphroditus as one who had shown that he was worthy to be engaged in so good a cause.[2]

Merciful Father, may the penance of our Lenten observance make us you obedient people., May the love within us be seen in what we do and lead us to the joy of Easter. Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen[3]
