MONDAY OF HOLY WEEK, APRIL 11, 2022 Scripture
Reading: John 12:1–11
Additional Scriptures: Psalm
36:5–11; Isaiah 42:1–9; Hebrews 9:11–15
This
scene is given to us in Holy Week. In a
few days time Jesus will die on a cross.
We are given an insight into the minds of many people referred to in the
story. Mary centers on Jesus and honors
Him in an unusual way, letting us know how much she thinks of Him. Martha was catering for all the people there.
Others come just to see Jesus and Lazarus. Judas criticizes the waste of the
ointment. Jesus aware of his forthcoming
death is completely composed and answers Judas.
Almighty God, whose dear Son went
not up to joy but first He suffered pain, and entered not into glory before He
was crucified: Mercifully grant that we, walking in the way of the cross, may
find it none other than the way of life and peace; through Jesus Christ Your
Son our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God,
forever and ever. Amen [2]
Almighty God, grant
that in the midst of our failures and weaknesses we may be restored through the
passion and intercession of Your only-begotten Son, who lives and reigns with
You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. [3]
