Reading: Psalm 39
Additional Scriptures: Ezekiel
17:1–10; Romans 2:12–16
According to our Psalm for today life is transient
in view of eternity. (Psalm 39:5) David
compares his short life to God in eternity: “Behold, You have made my days as
handbreadths, and my lifetime as nothing in Your sight.” When you’re young, 70,
80, or 90 years may seem like a long time. But when you view the few fleeting
years of life in light of God and eternity, they are nothing.
With the in mind make each day count. When compared
to eternity what does it matter? What matters is that we made each day of some significance;
to the glory of God and for the benefit of our neighbor. So go forth. Gossip the
gospel. Be a sermon in shoes.
O Lord, we
beseech You mercifully to hear us; and grant that we, to whom You have given a
fervent desire to pray, may, by Your mighty aid, be defended and comforted in
all dangers and adversities; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and
reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.[2]
Almighty
and ever-living God as You used Patrick to teach the people of Ireland the
truth of the eternal Trinity so make us faithful in all matters of teaching and
godly living to the praise and honor of Your most holy name.
