Additional Scriptures: 2
Chronicles 20:1–22; Psalm 105:1–42
Will
there be only a few saved?’ This looks like an eminently reasonable question,
but Jesus does not even find it worth an answer. He prefers to talk of more
relevant issues, like the need to choose well, even if this is difficult. How
much energy is lost in the Church arguing about irrelevant or marginal
questions, while we neglect what is really central and important? I pray for
the Church to keep its attention on its central mission of bringing the Good
News to all, and avoid all temptations to indulge in empty discussions. [2]
O God, You so loved
the world that you gave Your only begotten Son to reconcile earth with heaven;
Grant that we, loving You above all things, may love our friends in You, and
our enemies for Your sake; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns
with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.[3]
