Friday of Lent 2

Friday of Lent 2, March 17, 2017             Psalm 25:6

Psalm 25:6 English Standard Version (ESV)

6 Remember your mercy, O LORD, and your steadfast love,
for they have been from of old.

By definition, “tender mercies” are “very personal and individualized blessings, strength, protection, assurances, guidance, loving-kindnesses, consolation, support…gifts which we receive from and because of and through the Lord Jesus Christ."   1

Recall the Lord’s promise, “For the Lord your God is a merciful God. He will not leave you or destroy you or forget the covenant with your fathers that he swore to them. For ask now of the days that are past, which were before you, since the day that God created man on the earth, and ask from one end of heaven to the other, whether such a great thing as this has ever happened or was ever heard of.” – Deuteronomy 4:31-32 See also Exodus 34:6; 2 Chronicles 30:9; Nehemiah 9:31; Jonah 4:2

Grant, O Lord, that as your Son Jesus Christ prayed for His enemies on the cross, so we may have grace to forgive those who wrongfully or scornfully use us, that we ourselves may be able to receive your forgiveness; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.  2
