Almighty God, through Your only-begotten Son, Jesus Christ, You overcame death and opened to us the gate of everlasting life. We humbly pray that we may live before You in righteousness and purity forever; through the same Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.

A prayer during this global Pandemic

You shall not fear the terror of the night nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that roams in darkness, nor the plague that ravages at noon. - Psalm 91:5-6

Merciful God, hear our fervent prayer for all who suffer from the corona-virus.

May those who are infected receive the proper treatment and the comfort of Your healing presence. Look with compassion on the sorrowful condition of Your children who suffer because of this pandemic; relieve the pain of the sick; give strength to those who care for them; welcome into Your peace those who have died; and, throughout this time of tribulation, grant that we may all find comfort in Your merciful love.

May their caregivers, families and neighbors be shielded from the onslaught of this disease

Give solace to those who grieve the loss of loved ones.

Protect and guide those who strive to find a cure, that their work may conquer the disease and restore communities to wholeness and health.

Help us to rise above fear. We ask all this through the merits and mercies of Christ our Savior. 

A Pastoral Letter

Dear Saints of God at Friedheim –

As we prepare for Holy Week news concerning the Covid-19 Pandemic continues to alter our daily activities.  

Although this news may create a host of questions, uncertainty, and even trepidation we find our comfort and confidence in the promises of our Lord: “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” -Isaiah 41:10

Governor Eric Holcomb has announced that all K-12 schools in the State of Indiana shall not conduct in-person learning for the remainder of the school year. This means that Wyneken will likely continue to utilize remote home-based learning for the rest of the 2019-2020 academic session.

Our faculty, staff, and school board have many details to work through as we progress forward.  We ask for your patience and understanding as we seek to provide information and answers to the many questions which exist.  Our school administration will provide an update to all of our school families the next week after meeting with our school board and faculty.

We will conduct services virtually this coming Palm Sunday. Your may tune in to radio Station WZBD 92.7 FM to hear our service broadcast on air. We hope to live-stream the service on our parish Facebook_TM page at the same time. At that service we will follow the tradition of renewing our confirmation vows.

Throughout Holy Week devotions and reflections will be posted on our parish Facebook_TM page. I hope to send a daily devotional via e-mail to you each day.  As we look forward to Easter April 12, the service will be broadcast on the radio and live-streamed during our 9:00 am service.

Pray for our Church leadership. Ask the Lord or the Church for His guidance.

Parish responsibilities and accountability are important. Remember our financial obligations. You may drop off your contributions at church, the parish hall office or send them through the mail. Remember your sisters and brothers who are affected financially either by layoff or a reduction in hours. I also ask you to pray for our healthcare workers and first responders - they are on the front line of defense. Pray for our civic leaders as they make decisions which affect us all.

As we prepare for the beginning of Holy Week I have a challenge for you. What if everyone on Sunday April 5 in the morning, puts a branch on the door of their house or on the window, to celebrate Palm Sunday? We have palms available at church setting out. Feel free to take as many as you need.

It could be any green branch you can get. Be creative. A green Christmas wreath might do. This would help, despite the social distancing, to be connected as we enter into the Holiest of Weeks.

Covid 19

What's a rural medium sized parish in the middle of nowhere (where social distancing for many is way of life) to do in the midst of a global pandemic? 

Our Morning Glories group assembled 100 + face masks for the the residents of Lutheran Life Villages. 

The Holy Christian Apostolic Church is alive and functioning!

Jesus and His love are not distant, closed or locked down, but “open.” We are alive, well, engaged, relevant, relational and providing services through as many ways as we can find possible. 

The goal: demonstrate the compassion of Christ in word and deed.

Thank you ladies for being the hands, the feet, the fingers and toes of Jesus!  

Service update

UPDATE 

Services for  Sunday 3.22 and 3.29.2020 to be held virtually.

The Elders of our parish along with our chairman and in consultation with the chairman of the Church council have decided to conduct the worship service virtually for the next two weeks. Mid-week service scheduled for March 25 and April 1 have been canceled. Our Pack Away Hunger event; scheduled for April 3-4 have been postponed until a later time.      

Our objective is always to serve our neighbors as our community attempts to prevent the unnecessary spread of COVID-19. They have determined that this is the best way to move forward.

The Center for Disease Control CDC along with our president has urged that for the next two weeks all US events of 10+ persons should be cancelled or held virtually. The service will continue to be held and broadcast live. We urge you to stay home and listen to the service on radio station WZBD 92.7 FM We hope that services scheduled for holy week will resume. Parish leadership will continue to monitor this pandemic and make decisions that affect our congregation in a timely fashion.

We have an obligation under the Fourth Commandment to obey those in authority and cooperate with the directives of local, state, and national governments.

We have an obligation under the Fifth Commandment to serve our neighbor in love.  Life and physical health are precious gifts entrusted to us by God. We must take reasonable care of them, taking into account the needs of others and the common good.

Although it seems counterintuitive the general public has been instructed to come together by staying apart. You can still do your part. Keep in touch with family members and neighbors especially the elderly and those with weakened health conditions. These are the most vulnerable among us.

We have an obligation under the Eighth commandment to speak well of our neighbor, to defend him, speak well of him, and explain everything in the kindest way.   

These decisions were not made in haste or recklessly. Our parish leadership acted in a most judicious manner possible. We are obligated to protect our neighbor’s reputation. Be mindful that each congregation must make their own decisions considering the needs of all. Do not condemn or criticize the decisions of others.      

Be assured pastor is available for all matters of pastoral care. Please do not hesitate to contact him. If you desire the Sacrament contact him in a timely manner.
