Tuesday of Lent 1

Tuesday of Lent 1, March 7, 2017       Psalm 91:15-16

Psalm 91:15-16 English Standard Version (ESV)
15 When he calls to me, I will answer him;
    I will be with him in trouble;
    I will rescue him and honour him.
16 With long life I will satisfy him
    and show him my salvation.”

The promises of God assures all who trust in Him that He will be an ever-present help. These promises are fulfilled in Jesus. (See John 10:28-29)  How quickly life can go from smooth and routine to troubled and fearful. How encouraging it is to know of God’s protection. Our security comes from His promises kept. Jesus trampled Satan for the last time when He gloriously rose from the dead. We walk in victory even during dangerous times because He is with us and will not let us be separated from His love.   1

The Lord, ever-present, constantly invites us to call upon Him in every situation. Especially, during this Lenten season. We are encouraged to spend time with God in prayer and meditation. As we approach Him, He encourages us with the promise to hear and also to act on behalf of His dear children.  Daily, go to the Lord in prayer.

Grant to your people, Lord, grace to withstand the temptations of the world, the flesh and the devil, and with pure hearts and minds to follow you, the only True God; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen. 2
