Monday of Lent 2

Monday of Lent 2, March 13, 2017           Psalm 105:4-7

Psalm 105:4-7 English Standard Version (ESV)

4 Seek the LORD and his strength;
    seek his presence continually!
5 Remember the wondrous works that he has done,
    his miracles, and the judgements he uttered,
6 O offspring of Abraham, his servant,
    children of Jacob, his chosen ones!
7 He is the LORD our God;
    his judgements are in all the earth.

God remembers His pledge to His people. The covenant is entirely God’s initiative. God chooses Israel as His people, He delivers them, and reveals to them how they are to respond both in faith to Him and in trusting obedience to His Law. God will never forget the promises He made to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. See Genesis 28:13-14 1

Part of the Old Testament tradition was to recite and retell the things the Lord had done. For thousands of generations. Likewise, the message of the Gospel is the message of Jesus. It is the  telling and the re-telling of His story. It is the telling the Good News of all that He has done. Sunday after Sunday, we gather to hear the words and the accounts of Jesus. As we listen, meditate and retell His story we impact those around us with the love of Jesus Christ. Plan to come to church this Sunday to hear the message of Jesus. Come, expecting to hear about His mission and His story. Then, in faith, in hope and in love retell His story to your family, your neighbor, and all who would hear. That’s how the message gets out. That’s how the story is retold as it has been, from generation to generation.

Let your Spirit, O Lord, come into the midst of us to wash us with the pure water of repentance, and prepare us to be always a living sacrifice to you; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen. 2
