Thursday of Lent 4 – April 4, 2019 – Psalm 25:15
My eyes are ever toward the Lord, for he will
pluck my feet out of the net.
“Getting
over a painful experience is much like crossing monkey bars. You have to let go
at some point in order to move forward.” – C.S. Lewis.
Decisions sometimes prove to be the hardest
to make, especially when it’s a choice between where you should be and where
you really wanted to be. David sees
himself as a helpless animal, trapped in a net.
You will never do God’s will when
you are living in the past. Looking back will distract you from what is in
front of you. The devil will try to remind us of our past mistakes, sins,
failures, etc. He will say, “you messed up, now you’ve destroyed God’s plan for
you!” Satan is a liar. You are where God wants you to be. Don’t dwell on the
past. Keep moving forward. The next time you find yourself discouraged
concerning the past recall David’s encouraging words – “My eyes are ever toward the Lord, for he will pluck my feet out of the
net.”
Lord, I
trust Thy mighty power,
Wondrous are
Thy works of old;
Thou
deliver’st Thine from thralldom,
Who for
naught themselves had sold:
Thou didst
conquer, Thou didst conquer
Sin and
Satan and the grave,
Sin and Satan and the grave.[1]
Almighty and
most merciful God, drive from us all weakness of body, mind and spirit; that,
being restored to wholeness, we may with free hearts become what You intend us
to be and accomplish what You want us to do; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who
lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen[2]
