For our sake He made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that
in Him we might become the righteousness of God.” 2 Corinthians 5:21
In
order to save us, it was necessary for Jesus to suffer what we should have
suffered. Jesus became a human being to serve in our place. He took on flesh
and blood and became completely obedient to the Father. He took upon Himself
our sin that He might be able to suffer and die in our place. To redeem us from
the cruse of the Law Jesus suffered in our place. He became human, took on
flesh and blood, that He might be able to die, and through His death He has
destroyed the devil who had the power of death. Now you and I receive what is
His all the time – the righteousness of God. Glory be to God for this great
exchange!
Almighty and everlasting God, You sent
Your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ, to take upon Himself our flesh and to suffer
death upon the cross. Mercifully grant that we may follow the example of His
great humility and patience and be made partakers of His resurrection; through
the same Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy
Spirit, one God, now and forever.
