Friday, March 4, 2016     Thy Will Be Done

This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.  1Timothy 2:3-5

Who desire all people to be saved. Cf. Ezekiel 33:11; 2 Peter 3:9. Not all people are saved, however, because many reject the Word and resist the Holy Spirit. e.g. Hymenaeus and Alexander, who shipwrecked their faith; 1:19-20). Cf. Matthew 23:37; Acts 7:51.[1]

What is the good and gracious will of God? It is God’s will that His name be kept holy and that His kingdom come, that is, that His Word be taught correctly and that sinners be brought to faith in Christ and lead godly lives.[2]

Grant us, O Lord our Strength, to have a True Love of your Holy Name; so that, trusting in your grace, we may fear no earthly evil, nor fix our hearts on earthly goods, but may rejoice in your full salvation; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.[3]
