All
Praise to Thee My God This Night – Lutheran Service Book #883
Psalm 91; Psalm92:1-2; Psalm 4:8
All praise to Thee my God this night
For all the blessings of the Light
Keep me, O keep me King of kings,
Beneath Thine own almighty wings.
The
hymn opens, appropriately, in praise for the day that has passed. We
praise the Lord for all of the blessing of the sun. The Lord has given us this
day to serve Him and our neighbor. Now the day is past. We commit the night to
God. We rest and sleep in security. We know that our God guards and watches
over us.
Abide
with us, Lord, for it is toward evening, and the day is far spent. Abide with
us and with Your whole church. Abide with us at the end of the day, at the end
of our life, at the end of the world. Abide with us with Your grace and
goodness, with Your holy Word and Sacrament, with Your strength and blessing.
Abide with us when the night of affliction and temptation comes upon us, and
with all the faithful, now and forever. [1]
