Trinity reflection

 Trinity

This week on the church calendar we celebrate Trinity Sunday. Now the word “Trinity” is not found in the Bible…yet it’s teaching is found on nearly every page.

What the Trinity teaches is that we serve One God in three persons; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Now the Trinity has three distinct persons. The bible is very clear that God the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit all have special roles within the Trinity. The Bible teaches that the Father is God the Son is God and the Holy Spirit is God. And yet, there are not three Gods but one.

The Bible often teaches that there is a Trinity:

In Matthew 28– Jesus tells us to make disciples of all the nations baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

In Genesis 1 God said, “Let Us,” make man in “Our image,” indicating all three persons were present at creation.

In John 10 – Jesus said, “I and the Father are one.” And this One God will remain with you throughout all time/

What we shall see in our reading for today is that our God is always with us. Every single moment of our lives.

Prayer: O God; Father Son and Spirit be with us now as You have promise You are always present to order our days and to direct our path.

Hymn:  #18  Beautiful Savior

Confession/Absolution:

LORD - we pray to you also for the forgiveness of our sins. Have mercy upon us, most merciful Father.

In Your compassion forgive us our sins. Known and unknown. Things done. And left undone. And so uphold us by Your Spirit. That we may live and serve you in newness of life. To the honor and glory of Your Name. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Almighty God have mercy on you. Forgive you all your sins. Through our Lord Jesus Christ.

And may He strengthen you in all goodness. And by the power of the Holy Spirit keep you in eternal life. Amen.

Isaiah 41:9b-10

You are my servant,

I have hosen you and not cast you off;

Do not fear, for I am with you,

Do not be afraid for am your God;

I will strengthen you,

   I will help you,

I with uphold you with my

   Victorious right hand.

Hymn: #17 Be thou my Vision

In our reading for today the LORD has given you a wonderful word of promise. The LORD promises:

Do not be afraid for am your God;

I will strengthen you,

   I will help you,

I with uphold you with my

   Victorious right hand.

When we need God’s presence in our lives the LORD comes to us assuring us that He has chosen you. He assures you DO NOT BE AFRAID!

The LORD promises: “Fear not, for I am with you.”

This is both a command and a promise.  Fear, worry, and anxiety are often real circumstances. When the God who rules over the nations, the God who chose us and loves us, when God tells us fear not, we must take it seriously!

But there is also a promise. We fear not, because the LORD has told us, “I am with you.” What more do we need? If God is for us, who can be against us? (Romans 8:31)

How much more prone to fear and discouragement we are when we are alone. But we are never alone because God has declared, fear not, for I am with you.

It was as if God said to His people, “Remember Me? The God of all power and glory? I’m that One. I am your God.”

When people forget the greatness of God, they easily become dismayed. But God says, be not dismayed, for I am your God.

The LORD has promised “I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.”

 God’s strength and glory make Him able to help us. But it is His love that makes Him say, “I will help you.”

God holds us up.  He has promised:

“I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.” You should never have a God that you have to hold up. Rather He holds you in the palm of His hand.

The LORD reminds us: “For I, the LORD your God, will hold your right hand, saying to you, “Fear not, I will help you.” God promised to uphold you with My righteous right hand. That was God’s hand holding us up.

Now, we see God’s hand holding our right hand, and giving us strength over fear, doubt, and anxiety.

The LORD promises through Isaiah that we need not fear Every concern He takes to Himself. So today recognize how important the work of Christ is.

He suffered for our sake. And because of that. We also know that Jesus can understand when we go through hard times am experience difficult things.

If you think you have noting in life. Behold His cross. Where you will find the Father’s love for you.

When life seems difficult. Turn to the Scriptures. They never change.

Whenever you experience pain or regret – Hear the Gospel -That Jesus forgives you.

 There are a lot of things in our lives that are difficult or challenging. We might not understand what God is doing.

But Jesus promises to be with us. And will always help us get through.

He knows how hard life is. Because He was willing to undergo pain and death for us. He will listen to our cries every time we pray. We are thankful that Jesus knows and understands…you! We pray:

Thank you, LORD; for giving us Jesus, the true hero. Help us to cling to Him when life is hard. And remember that He’s been through it all!

We proclaim Him as Lord as we love one another. Thank you for your love and care.

Prayer: Thank you, LORD for your love and care. Thank you for sending your Spirit into this world. Thank you for your Word the Bible. I’m glad I am part of your family. Help me to share your love. And tell others about Jesus.

As the Lord has given us one another and we give thanks for God’s grace and mercy as we offer prayers on this day.

As the Lord has given us neighbors, friends, families, and coworkers to share the joys and burdens of this life. We thank you Lord, for the privilege of loving others.

As the Lord has given us a promise that where He goes, He will prepare a place for us.

We thank you Lord for the gift of life and for giving us to one another for safekeeping. Bring us home when it is time. Lord in your grace, hear our prayer.
